The Chinese Globalization Association (CGA), Inc., a non profit organization, was formed exclusively for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes. Its mission is to assist, promote, and advance the development of the emerging field of study and research on Chinese globalization, emphasizing multidisciplinary approaches, including fields of knowledge such as international business, economics, political science, history, sociology and other relevant disciplines.
The mission of the Association is to foster education and research, and
(a) to advance professional standards in the studies of the phenomenon of the contemporary globalization of China.
(b) to facilitate the flow and exchange of information and ideas among researchers and educators, and encourage collaboration between academic and business institutions and actors interested in this field of knowledge.
(c) to encourage and assist research activities which advance knowledge about Chinese globalization, including the operations of people, companies, industries and government actors across borders, and to increase the available body of teaching materials, including case studies.
(d) to cooperate whenever possible with government, business and academic organizations for the furtherance of these basic objectives; and
(e) to, in general, increase the membership of the Corporation.
The Chinese Globalization Association is the successor to the China Goes Global™ /China Is Going Global initiative, started in 2006. China Goes Global™ held its first annual conference in 2006 at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Between 2007 and 2012 annual conferences were held at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts. From December 2007 through 2010, the China Goes Global™ /China Is Going Global initiative was partially sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Germany as well as the partnering Universities with the purpose of encouraging research on the globalization of Chinese enterprises and related topics.
